Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The Jharkhand government on Monday termed the false recent media reports of attacks and killings of migrant workers from Hindi-speaking belts, including Jharkhand, working in Tamil Nadu.
In an official statement, the administration said a team from Jharkhand has been sent to the southern state to assess the situation. However, the team found that no such thing happened.
“Following the viral social media reports of the recent attacks, the Department of Labor has dispatched a team to locate and rescue the victims. However, interacting with hundreds of migrant workers from the state living in various cities of Tamil Nadu, it was found that the reports were false.
All workers told the team that they are safe and are also receiving their wages on time,” the IRPD said in a statement. He asked the media to refrain from falling victim to social media reports without proper verification.
As a precaution, the Ministry of Labor has introduced state helpline numbers for migrant workers — 9470132591/ 9431336427/ 9431336398/ 9431336472 and 9431336432.
